Commercial storefront glass replacement at a Fishers, IN business

What it is

A Different Discipline From a Bedroom Window

Aluminum storefront framing, tempered and insulated commercial glazing, and entry glass for small business properties.

A storefront is an aluminum system — typically a centre-set or front-set extrusion carrying large lites in a gasket or a wet-glazed pocket — and the glass in it answers to code requirements a residential window does not. Storefront lites and entry glass are almost always required to be safety glazing, and a like-for-like swap of an incorrect original does not make it compliant.

We work with the business property around the Nickel Plate District, the Fishers District at 116th and I-69, the 96th Street corridor and the retail strips along Allisonville and Olio Road. Owners and property managers call about cracked or broken lites, failed insulated units in conditioned storefronts, framing damaged by an impact, tired entry door glass, and glazing that no longer meets requirements after a tenant fit-out.

What Commercial Work Covers

Storefront system identification

The existing extrusion, glazing method and pocket depth identified so the replacement lite is fabricated to the framing you already have.

Tempered and laminated to code

Safety glazing specified to the applicable requirement, and documented.

Insulated commercial units

Conditioned storefronts get correctly sized units carrying the coating and performance the building needs.

Aluminum framing repair

Bent, split or impact-damaged extrusions, sills and headers repaired or replaced so the new lite sits in straight framing.

Gasket, wet-seal and stop replacement

Dry gaskets, glazing tape and stops renewed as part of the installation.

Entry door glass and hardware

Glass in aluminum entry doors, plus the closers, pivots and locks the work affects.

Temporary board-up

Broken lites secured the same visit so the premises stays weathertight and lockable while the replacement is built.

Scheduling around trading hours

Before opening, after closing, or on the day you nominate.

Field measurement

Every lite measured in the field in its actual condition, because a frame that has taken an impact is rarely still square.

Clean handover

Sidewalk, entry mat and interior floors cleared of fragments and dust before we leave.

How We Do It

01

Site visit and field measure

Framing system assessed, affected lites measured, and anything open or unsafe secured on that visit.

02

Fabrication and scheduling

Tempered and insulated commercial lites built to your measurements, typically one to three weeks depending on size and coating. Oversized lites take longer.

03

Installation

Old glazing and gaskets out, pocket prepared, unit set on blocks and resealed. A single standard lite is usually one to two hours.

04

Handover ready to trade

Frontage cleaned, entry tested, site handed back.

Local conditions

Winter Work on a Frontage That Has to Stay Open

The complication on a Fishers storefront in January is not the glass, it is the heat. Pulling a large lite out of a conditioned space in single-digit weather means the unit has to go back the same visit, so we do not start until the replacement is on site and inspected. Where a lite is broken and the fabrication lead time is weeks out, we board and insulate the opening properly rather than leaving a sheet of plywood taking wind off the parking lot.

Secured the same visit

Boarded, insulated and lockable before we leave the assessment.

Code-correct, documented

What was installed and to which requirement, in writing.

Framing addressed first

A new pane in a twisted extrusion is a stressed pane that cracks again.

Common questions

Commercial Questions

We aim to board and secure on the assessment visit, which is usually within one or two business days. The permanent lite follows on the fabrication lead time.

Get the Frontage Looking Open Again

A boarded or cracked lite tells every car on the road that something is wrong. We will get out, measure, secure the opening, and give you a written price and a real lead time.
